· Two icons from the world of wine came together last night in London to participate in a spectacular wine tasting event of the Chivite Colección 125 Blanco.
· Old vintage wines from the 90s were uncorked for their critique by wine experts that admired the aging of the wine and its elegant evolution.
· The wine tasting meant the confirmation that these wines are amongst the best white wines in the world.
Julián Chivite, Executive President of the Chivite Group, offered a spectacular wine tasting occasion last night in the city of London, together with Denis Dubourdieu, winemaker advisor for the group and of legendary wines like Château Cheval Blanc and Château d’Yquem.
The most influential wine experts and critics in Britain participated in this historic wine tasting event. For the first time in the history of winery, bottles of Chivite Colección 125 Blanco were uncorked; a wine that is made with the Chardonnay variety over the last three decades, starting in the vintage year of 1996.
Julián Chivite commented after the event that “what we wanted to achieve was to demonstrate the quality of our wines and the originality that we are capable of offering the north of Spain with our white wines and with a unique terroir. The Chardonnay wines that we have tested come from our estate in Tierra Estella, one of the northern most points of the peninsula, where we succeed in making every bottle magic”.
Accompanying Chivite and leading the wine tasting was Denis Dubourdieu, winemaker advisor of the family and unconditional in the creation of these wines. He stated that “I think that these Chardonnay wines can be put on a level with some of the best white wines of Borgoña in terms of class, elegance, and their astonishing aging ability. And that is what we have come here to demonstrate.”
Dubourdieu highlighted not only the originality of the land to which the variety has adapted to, but rather the influence of the Atlantic climate that characterises this terroir, as well as the altitude at which the vineyards are found. “We are committed –he stated- to a type of production that strives to demonstrate the aging ability of our white wines, and today the wines themselves have proven this”.
