XXVIII edition of the “Great Order of the Caballeros of wine” celebrates its annual dinner on March 19th in London. Its 56 actual members will attend, among which are outstanding personalities such as Tim Atkins, Charlotte Hey and Sarah Jane Evans.
The dinner will be presided over by the Spanish ambassador to the United Kingdom, Federico Trillo and the managing director of ICEX Spain Export and Investments, Mª del Coriseo González-Izquierdo, and a wide representation of the specialized British press will attend, as well as importers and people responsible for purchases. The menu is accompanied by the Chivite Colección 125 Reserva 2006, among six others, chosen through blind tasting by the members of the Order.
The Great Order of the Caballeros of Wine is an institution created in 1984 by Wines From Spain and its main aim is the recognition to the people who have worked in the promotion of Spanish wines in the U.K. Also, because of the fame of this event among British media and professional public, it is settled as an exceptional event for the diffusion of Spanish wines.
Thus, every year the “Gran Orden” celebrates a gala dinner in which it´s proceeded with the election of two new “Caballeros del Vino”, chosen because of its work on behalf of Spanish wines, being one of them British and the other one Spanish.
Chivite Colección 125 Reserva 2006 comes from the property that the Chivite Family owns in Tierra Estella, located in magnificent natural surroundings, with a suitable Atlantic climate for the culture of wine, protected and a limestone-calcareous soil. It has been made of Tempranillo variety grapes from different plots, handpicked and twice selected in the vineyard and then in the cellar. It´s a limited production, noble and singular, aged in French oak barrel for 14 months.
